Discipleship Recovery Program: Therapeutic Recovery Retreats

Tucked away above Esterbrook and below Laramie Peak, the Recovery Ranch is more than a scenic refuge—it’s a sacred space where healing takes root and lives are transformed. As part of the Wyoming Rescue Mission’s year-long Discipleship Recovery Program, the Ranch offers therapeutic retreats that provide men and women in recovery with a unique opportunity to rest, reflect, and reconnect—with God, with themselves, and with their families.

In this peaceful and distraction-free setting, guests experience deeper Bible study, meaningful discipleship, and therapeutic work that’s often not possible in daily shelter life. It is here, surrounded by nature’s beauty, that our guests begin to dream again—to see a future filled with purpose, restoration, and hope.

For many, this is their first chance to truly step away from the chaos of addiction and into an environment of encouragement and peace. The Ranch also strengthens families, allowing mothers and fathers to focus on their recovery while beginning to rebuild the trust and bonds that addiction once eroded. These moments ripple outward—changing not only the guest’s life, but the trajectory of their family for generations.

Testimonial: Restoring Hope and Transforming Lives

Bill had been coming to Wyoming Rescue Mission’s mercy services—just a night off the streets and a sack lunch—for over a decade. Still bound by addiction and despair, he had no desire to change. “I was just waiting to be dead,” he confessed.

That all changed when he was faced with a choice: a year in jail or a year in the Mission’s recovery program. Bill reluctantly chose the Mission.

It was at the Recovery Ranch that everything shifted.

Away from the noise of the streets and the weight of his past, Bill encountered something he hadn’t expected—peace. Surrounded by staff, peers, and the stillness of the Ranch, he opened his heart to God. He came to faith in Jesus, was baptized in the Ranch’s creek, and began a journey of real transformation.

Today, Bill is sober, thriving in the Discipleship Recovery Program, and discovering a renewed purpose for his life.
